Learn about my journey, teaching philosophy, and passion for helping students around the world achieve their English language goals.

My journey and passion for teaching

Hi! I’m Rhory, born in Scotland and an English teacher with over 17 years of experience. I have worked with students of all ages, both in person and online, helping them improve their conversation, grammar to better their general English or also prepare successfully for the Cambridge exam.

My approach is positive and dynamic: I create engaging lessons, personalised based on each student’s goals, and I use progress tracking methods to ensure they learn with confidence.

Before starting my teaching career, I volunteered in the Peruvian Amazon, taking care of wild animals, an experience that taught me patience, responsibility, and the value of caring for others.

I have taught in Scotland, Peru, and Italy, and I love seeing my students grow and achieve their goals in English. My lessons are suitable for all levels, from beginners to more advanced learners, and I am always looking for new ways to make learning effective and enjoyable.

Unique methods for effective learning

I use a wide range of engaging activities, including worksheets, an interactive whiteboard to introduce new vocabulary and deliver clear grammar explanations, as well as presentations to make complex points easier to understand.

I also teach students how to read phonetics, which removes the guesswork from pronunciation and makes it much easier to speak clearly. This is something many students highlight as especially helpful.

Lessons also include reading tasks, games, listening practice, and structured lesson plans based on real-world topics—such as famous people or natural disasters—making each session both interesting and relevant. I use a wide array of activities like worksheets, an interactive whiteboard where I teach new vocab or do presentations to explain a grammar point clearer etc. Reading activities, games, listening and specific lesson plans to do with real things like famous people or the explanation of a natural disaster, very interesting topics and more.

Confidence beyond grammar

I want my students to leave each lesson feeling that they’ve genuinely learned something valuable, but also that they’ve enjoyed the process. Learning a language shouldn’t feel stressful or repetitive—it should be engaging and motivating.

Beyond improving their English, I want students to feel more confident using the language in real situations. Whether it’s speaking in conversations, at work, or in exams, that sense of confidence is what really makes a difference.

Most importantly, I want them to feel encouraged and supported, so they look forward to each lesson and see clear progress over time.
